Bio Paul Marsh is available for hire as a Classical/Spanish/Flamenco solo guitarist. He has played around Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast areas for weddings, private functions and in Cafes and restaurants. Paul was awarded his Master of Music Studies in 2005 from the Queensland Conservatorium and won the Conservatorium Guitar Prize the previous year. His style of playing is broad, playing traditional Classical and Romantic styles, flamenco, Latin American and Jazz.
Repetoire
Paul both varies and fuses different styles to suit the occasion. He plays Classical pieces by the likes of J.S. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Fernando Sor and Francisco Tarrega. Pieces by Spanish composers such as Isaac Albeniz are favourites to many and he also plays many pieces in the style of the increasingly popular Latin American music of Argentina and Brazil, such as the Tango, the Samba and the Bossa Nova. These styles are often interwoven through Paul's improvisations and own works.
Jazz music is often worked in to the repertoire at parties and functions where some contrast of colour is needed. As Time Goes By, Take Five and Autumn Leaves are among many of his favourites. Contemporary popular music is also requested at times. He plays solo arrangements of popular songs such as Moondance, Tears in Heaven, Romeo and Juliet and many of the Beatles' classics.
